Welcome to the Chorley & District Writers' Circle website

Write Space is the online home of the Chorley & District Writers' Circle.  We've created this website to encourage local people to pick up a pen and start writing.  Don't be intimidated by a blank sheet of paper - give it a go! The rewards are great.  As well as enriching your life; writing and self-expression are proven to help physical and emotional wellbeing. You don't have to write poetry or stories, you may find it easier start with a journal or a memoir.

Come along to one of our friendly meetings for lots of hints and tips to help you get started or to share your writing and receive positive feedback.  We also invite you to read some of the creative work on the website.

29 Nov 2011 News - The winners of our annual national writing competition have been announced.  Read their winning stories in this year's Aware magazine.

Writers' Circle Meetings:

The Chorley & District Writers' Circle meets at 7.30pm on the last Tuesday in the month.  Meetings are held upstairs at the Hartwood Hotel pub (A49/M61).

Membership costs £20 a year for 11 meetings or £4 per meeting for visitors.

We have speakers, workshops and info sessions as well as giving members opportunity to read each others' work, should they want this. We also send out a monthly newsletter and publish Aware, an annual compilation of members' work.  Our variety and activity keeps members returning year after year.

Our next meeting will be Tuesday 24th April at 7:30pm. Guest speaker Jane Eagland, a published Young Adult writer, will be holding a workshop and discussion. Jane was very well received last year when she held a discussion on her experiences of publishing her work. Visitors are welcome (please see above for cost).
